Testimonials

9/6/2016 – Angelo, Longmeadow:

Thank you for turning my life around from struggling with credit card debt. The Mass Debt Relief Foundation was my saving grace when I saw your ad in the Springfield Republican. As a senior on a fixed income making minimum credit card payments was going nowhere and only creating a deeper debt. Your organization walks with you every step of the way and is just amazing to work with. If someone is in a deep financial situation I would urge them to contact you. I have learned a valuable lesson in managing my finances, being out of debt, and having peace of mind. Can’t thank you enough.

8/3/2016 – Brian, Gloucester:

I am incredibly grateful to Maegan Hurley and the Massachusetts Dept Relief Foundation, Inc. for their services. In 2013, due to budget cuts I was laid off from a position I held for a decade. At the time I was debt free, with good credit,  and qualified for unemployment. When unemployment benefits and my savings ran out, I had to turn to credit cards for the basics, expecting I would soon get enough work to pay them off. Unfortunately, after 2 years, I still couldn’t find adequate income, and soon was paying my minimum payments instead of buying soap, food, and other necessities, because I didn’t want to rack up more fees.  This was not sustainable, and knowing I was over my head, I consulted debt consolidation organizations, but the minimum payments would have been higher than what I already couldn’t afford.  Googling for any info I could find, I came upon an article about MDRF. I contacted the number, and Maegan immediately returned my call. She asked thorough questions, and explained my options.  We decided I was a good candidate for bankruptcy, and she would assist me in the entire process for free if I chose that route.  I can’t explain the relief I felt. Her compassion, professionalism, guidance, and expertise through every step was outstanding. Not only did I receive debt relief, she empowered me with the tools to rebuild my life. I strongly recommend MDRF to anyone in a similar situation.

3/28/2016 – Chris, Marlborough:

I am a 68 year old woman who had worked her whole life, cared for my parents until they passed on, and then became sick myself. I was hospitalized due to a heart condition and a brain hemorrhage, in intensive care and rehab for a few months. Not working caused me to be dependent on credit cards. I had $35,000 in credit card debt, was paying 85% of my social security check to cover barely minimum payments and had to keep using these credit cards, just to cover basic needs. I was overwhelmed with fear. A family friend told my daughter of the MDRF (Mass Debt Relief Foundation) program and helped me contact Maegan Hurley in Boston. She walked me through the process, submitted my bankruptcy case, and I am now debt free. This has changed my life in that I can breathe again, hope again, and concentrate on living. This program not only stabilizes individual lives, but can also bring peace and wholeness once again to entire families.
THANK YOU-Maegan Hurley and MDRF

7/20/2015 -MC, Boston:

I have decided to tell my story on how the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation helped me file bankruptcy, free of charge, or pro bono in 2015. I took sick in 2009 and my employment was terminated in 2010. It was very difficult for me to find another job and because of that my debt fell behind. It became overwhelming for me with creditors calling so many times. I was also served to go to court several times. On one particular day when I went to court, I met a lawyer who gave me a letter with MDRF’s address and phone number. In this letter it explained the purpose of MDRF. I took the letter and tucked it away when I got home. Three months later I found the letter again. When I decided to call, I’m glad I did. It was a wonderful experience for me, meeting Maegan Hurley, one of the pro bono lawyers of MDRF. She was very professional, knowledgeable about her work, and blessed and cheerful to work with. I remember that every time I went to see her she had a warm greeting and always a smile on her face. For everyone who is looking for debt relief, in my opinion, you would not regret coming to MDRF. My experience with them will always be remembered.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! -MC, Boston

4/6/2015 -JS, Athol:

I am writing this letter of testimonial as an appreciation to all who helped me in my bankruptcy case, and to let people know what this organization is all about. The Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation, is an organization set up for people in need of help with deciding what to do when there is no other solution for paying your debts. They are very professional in what they do, and sincere with listening, and helping you in every way possible, regardless of the status of your income, or personal reasons why you are in debt. In the situation of things that had happened in my personal life over seven years, I needed help, and my only choice was to see if I was able to file bankruptcy. The feelings I had of being in debt were very overwhelming with my nerves. I had asked my boyfriend to see if he could find anything online about bankruptcy, and the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation came up. He put in all the required information asked, and was sent through email. Soon thereafter, I was contacted by a lawyer named Maegan L. Hurley.
She is very professional, very nice to talk with, very helpful, and was very understanding of my situation, and was always available when I needed her, whether it was by email, phone, or mail. I was surprised and very relieved that the process of my case was done so quickly. Within a couple of months, I had a court date. I can’t specify enough how thankful I am that there is this organization out there to help people. I would recommend the debt relief foundation to anyone. My experience with the Foundation is very honorable. They helped me with my case in a very quick way, and met my needs regardless of my personal problems and income status. I was very pleased and appreciative of my lawyer, Maegan Hurley; how nicely her personality was towards me as a person, and understanding one’s reasons why you are in debt, and so relieved I was not turned away because of my income.
We are all in need of help in some kind of way in our lifetime, and I will be forever grateful for the help I received. After the bankruptcy, it has helped in the ways of better understanding how to use your income wisely. I have learned that there are things in one’s life that unexpectedly happen you never think will. You need to think of the unexpected and prepare yourself ahead of time for situations that may happen beyond one’s control, in managing one’s income wisely. It has taken a huge relief of pressure and worry off my nerves, knowing I won’t have to appear in court anymore, and being free from my debts. Thank you ever so much for the help of everyone at the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation who was involved with my case.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! -JS, Athol

2/1/2014 -BJ, Fitchburg:

I can’t say enough about the professionalism, as well as compassion that the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation has.  Last year, I found myself way over my head in credit card debt.  All of my money was going to minimum payments.  I consulted a lawyer, and just the fee alone, I would not have any money for months.  I didn’t know what to do.
I came across an ad for a law firm that offered free legal services for bankruptcy cases.  I was skeptical, but clicked on the site and read.  No harm in trying…so I contacted Attorney Ravosa by email.  Someone responded promptly by phone.  The voice on the other line belonged to Maegan Hurley.  She listened to my story, and never did I feel like she was judging me.  She understood how these things can happen, and after a few brief questions, she told me she could take my case pro bono.  And she could get any extra fees waived.  I was stunned; was this really happening?  I hung up the phone…surely this had to be a scam.  I searched the internet feverishly trying to find something that would prove me right.  I couldn’t find anything but praise for these attorneys.  I cried; there truly was a fairy godmother out there that would help me!
The entire process was smooth…Maegan and I did mostly everything electronically.  A couple of occasions we spoke on the phone, and some things I had to mail to their office.  But that was it!  I still couldn’t believe this was happening!
My meeting of the creditors was in July.  Attorney Ravosa met me there.  What a friendly face he was!  Nice man…my father had just passed away and Attorney Ravosa was so empathetic and kind.  The meeting lasted less than 5 minutes…and that was it.  I still couldn’t believe it!
I received my bankruptcy discharge in September.  Maegan was with me the entire time, and I cannot thank her enough.  I really don’t know what I would’ve done without Maegan and Attorney Ravosa.  If I have any future legal needs, I would not hesitate to contact the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation again.  They truly are angels from heaven.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!    -BJ, Fitchburg

1/25/2014 – LD from Littleton:

“I am happy for the opportunity to recommend the services of the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation. I was totally overwhelmed by my circumstances and especially the bankruptcy process.  I could not afford the fee let alone legal help and was about to be taken to court, which would have resulted in a judgment against me. When my application for help was accepted, I could have cried with relief. The attorney who worked with me, Maegan Hurley, was courteous, knowledgeable, thorough, and responsive to my questions and concerns. The attorney who accompanied me to the hearing was friendly, supportive, reassuring, and knowledgeable as well. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for their professional and compassionate help.” - LD from Littleton

11/1/2013 – CR from Wilmington:

“I found myself in court being sued by a credit card company for the 3rd time! This time the amount I was being sued for was well over $10K and they were threatening to garnish my wages!  ... I felt like my life was spiraling out of control. I was barely getting by working a full time job trying to provide for me and my 2 boys and the threat of having my wages garnished was very stressful. I felt like I had FAILED.
“To add insult to injury I lost my job 2 months later. I reached out to a family friend who is an attorney and he suggested Bankruptcy. I shot down the idea almost instantly. From what I had heard about Bankruptcy, it was a NOT an option for someone with my circumstances.... After doing some research, I realized BOY was I wrong! ... I took the attorney's advice and contacted Town & Country Legal Associates and am so GLAD I DID!”
Maegan Hurley walked me through the entire Bankruptcy process. She was always there to answer any/all questions that I had. Maegan kept in contact with me weekly to keep me up to date on the status of my case and remind me of important dates and courses that I needed to attend.
I am TRULY grateful to Maegan and the entire staff at Town & Country Legal Associates (Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation)! I feel like I have a 2nd chance at life!”

“I spent years dodging phone calls from bill collectors knowing that my credit was shot. My son was in college and I had all that I could do to survive and pay my rent and utilities. I didn’t have enough money to file for bankruptcy which was at least $1,000 at most of the places I called. So I gave up hope of getting out of the hole I was in. Pretty depressing.
But miracles do happen! Maegan was my miracle. She helped me every step of the way through the bankruptcy process and always returned my calls promptly. She’s a very good listener as well as being very organized and professional and caring. When it was time to go to court, she was right there next to me. I wasn’t even nervous because she spent the time to prepare me for what they might ask.
I feel as though I have a new lease on life. My son is on his own and I can start to repair my credit and live a simple life with the new knowledge I have gained through the bankruptcy education program.
For anyone in a similar situation, I would HIGHLY recommend Maegan Hurley and her Associates at Town & Country Legal Associates/ Mass Debt Relief Foundation. They are THE REAL DEAL!!!” -CR from Wilmington

“Sometimes things in your life change that you have no control of and all of a sudden your finances start to take over. That's how I felt until I spoke with Maegan L. Hurley, Esq.  Filing bankruptcy was a tough decision for me and came as a last resort. Maegan made me feel comfortable with my decision and walked me through the process. It was the best thing I could of done for myself and my family. I only wish I had done it sooner.  I can't thank Maegan enough for all her guidance and help during this time.  A burden has been lifted and it's great not to get numerous phone calls and letters from collectors. “I’m writing this letter to tell you how much the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation, Inc. helped me out. I cannot go on without saying Maegan Hurley saved my life. It’s like this, after I found out how much it cost to file for bankruptcy I said forget it, then all the calls and threats started. I could not take it. So I started looking for help. I just prayed that there was somebody out there to help people like me that worked all there life. I got hurt really bad in work, so now I am disabled. I got hold of Maegan, she was a life saver, and I could not believe that she was doing this case pro bono. Maegan would call me or email back the same day, you would have thought I was paying her a million dollars. I’m not just saying that, I did not have any stress in this process. I would not have believed that if anyone ever said to me you won’t have any stress, I would think they were joking, truth be told I did not thanks to Maegan. When I met her in court she picked me right out and stayed with me the whole time, really never left my side. I feel so fortunate that I found her. Thank You will never do justice to her for the way she handled my case. I highly recommend the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation, Inc., and I think you can tell how I feel about Maegan. I would like to also thank Richard Ravosa’s Town and Country’s Legal Associates for all their help also. Thank You.”

12/20/2012 – MC from Boston:

“I kept stalling to take care of my debt, dreading that the process would be long and tedious. I couldn't take the calls and letters anymore. I wanted to move on from the mistake I had made with my credit at 18. I’m expecting a kid and need to think of reestablishing credit in the future for emergencies. I was educated and worked with through the whole process and felt comfortable I was making the right choice. Maegan was very sweet, helpful and was very patient with me. The process was painless, fast and she helped me through everything. I'm so glad I chose to claim Bankruptcy with Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation. Thank you so much for the help!!” - MC from Boston

12/20/2012 – KB from Lunenburg:

“I am writing to say thank you to the Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation, Inc. I was in trouble financially after going through a divorce and losing my small business. I had thought about bankruptcy many times over the last couple of years. It was not a decision I took lightly. After considerable research and soul searching, I decided to go ahead with it.
I started looking for lawyers and made a couple of consultant appointments. What the lawyer’s office requested I bring with me and paperwork was overwhelming. I did my best to bring the necessary papers but somehow I always fell short. After meeting with a few lawyers I then realized, I didn’t have the money to file bankruptcy. Ironic isn’t it?
I found Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation through the internet and I never looked back. Maegan walked me through EVERY step of the process, I never felt overwhelmed and I never felt I dropped the ball. She was quick and responsive to every email and question I had. She figuratively held my hand through the whole process from start to finish. On top of all the help, they did this all this pro bono!
I can’t say thank you enough to this organization for helping me and my kids to get back on Track and hopefully start again in a better place.” – KB from Lunenburg

8/2/2012 – TM from Arlington

Maegan Hurley of Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation and Town and Country Law has been truly a lifesaver for me – I could not have handled my bankruptcy successfully without her help. I had been struggling through decades of chronic illness and medical bills, and was in considerable debt, completely broke, and overwhelmed when she accepted my case.
Not only was she extremely conscientious and thorough with the paperwork, she responded promptly to emails and phone calls, answering all my questions. She also met with me in advance of the court date, and accompanied me to the hearing.
Bankruptcy can be a nerve-wracking experience, but Maegan was so supportive throughout the entire process and so clear in her communications that she relieved my level of stress considerably. I am deeply grateful to her and recommend her highly.” – TM from Arlington

2012 – Jennifer from Westfield

"I would like to thank Attorney Richard Ravosa so much for their help during my extremely rough times. It seemed like I could not get a break anywhere, and things were just happening one thing after another. When I called them for help with my financial difficulties, they were very professional and caring. They also helped me tremendously, knew exactly what they were doing, and were able to help me get a break with Chapter 7 bankruptcy, so I could have a second chance and fresh start. I also don't have to deal with the nasty creditors anymore calling all day and night, even weekends and holidays. I feel totally indebted to them and appreciate all they have done, as things are still hard, but this is one less big thing off my shoulders, and I am able to focus on the other important things that I need to. I recommend this law firm for anyone with financial difficulties; they will help you with professionalism, courtesy and are affordable, even if you think you can't afford a lawyer. Couldn't ask for a better lawyer and team…. thanks again!!!!"  Jennifer from Westfield
